There have been several changes in the Top 110 best-selling cars in the world in 2021. The Toyota RAV4 overtook the Corolla and the Tesla Model 3 entered the top 10.
We already have the list of 110 best selling cars in the world in 2021, and there are important news. Perhaps the most important of these is entering the top 10 positions of the Tesla Model 3which was also consolidated into best selling electric car of the world. More precisely, it ranked ninth on the list thanks to 508,000 units delivered last year.
Another protagonist of this list is toyota-rav4What replaced its brother Corolla in first place in sales at the World level. As the Corolla stalled, this SUV rose to the top spot. This is the first time that a vehicle of this type has achieved this level of commercial success.
And as usual, Toyota continues to make an impact in the top positions of the global “Top 110”, not just because of the models we’ve already mentioned. Also highlighted the Hilux pickupwith excellent results obtained in emerging countries such as Argentina and even Colombiawhere he still remains in the top 20.
.
All this information comes from the list prepared by Felipe MunozColombian and analyst of the consulting firm JATO Dynamics, taking as reference data from 106 markets in a year marked by the microchip crisis and the absence of vehicles on display. As mentioned, the information represents 99.32% of the total market international.
Relevant data
It should be noted that among the 10 best-selling vehicles in the world, eight are from Japanese brands. Under the first two positions, where the aforementioned Toyota models are located, are the Honda CR-V, Nissan Sentra, Toyota Camry and Honda HR-V. In seventh position is already the most popular North American pickup, the Ford F-150.
After the Toyota Hilux, which occupies the eighth place, it is the other American car: the Tesla Model 3. Finishing in the top 10, we find the Honda Accord, which is down slightly but retains good commercial performance.
Later, there are more relevant points that Muñoz highlighted in his analysis. The Toyota Highlander “climbed” to 13th position on the list and is the brand’s second best-selling SUV in the world, thanks to the success of its latest generation. Likewise, the Tesla Model Y secured another position for Elon Musk’s firm in the top 20, taking 19th place.
.
And something special: the huge success of China’s best-selling electric car. Yes, gentlemen, the Wuling Hongguang MINI EV was the 20th best-selling vehicle in the world, having shipped 391,000 units.
